“Windows no.3” is a part of my “Windows” photography installation, which consists of 12 photographs from my “Beware of the Dog” project. I captured it on a 35mm black and white negative film.
The black line across the photograph appears to be a very tall tree trunk, but it is a huge scratch on the negative. I made it by accident while developing the film in my darkroom. First, I hated myself for ruining my negative. But then, a decade later, I realized that this accident added something new, beautiful and more profound to the image. It completely transformed the photograph and gave it a different meaning – the scratch that appears to be a tree divides the image, dominates over all the trees and celebrates perception.
